The Children's Support focus is on the belief that ever child and teen deserves the opportunity to grieve in a supportive, understanding and compassionate environment. It is our mission to provide peer interaction and bereavement support through the facilitation of individual and group activities to children and teenagers of law enforcement officers who have died or been killed while on active duty.
When an LAPD family suffers such a traumatic loss, they -- especially children -- can feel isolated and unsure of how to deal with their grief. These activities help to preserve cherished memories for each child and provides a safe and meaningful setting for the children to share their feelings and receive support .
It's important for our group to provide peer interaction and bereavement support to the children and teenagers of law enforcement officers who have died or were killed while on active duty. Helping them know it's ok to laugh and not feel guilty; that they are not alone and not forgotten. We provide monthly activities and events so that this children may have the opportunity for peer support. Over the years we have helped hundreds of children walk the road of grief. One of the most important services we can provide is a comfortable, supportive network for each child or teenager throughout their grieving process so they may feel supported with compassion and understood by those who have shared similar experiences. Our Program
